Cordelia is a petite young woman, only starting to truly grow into herself. Her kind face often bears a soft smile, as if to please the onlooker regardless of her own feelings. Her most notable feature is her poise; the young mage moving with a bearing and grace beyond her years. Although her life of nobility ended when she was young, she maintains all the expected behavior and presentation of an arlessa in training. Her hazel eyes are somewhat heavy lidded, although they brighten immensely at new sights. Cordelia meticulous maintains her appearance, leaving her hair full bodied and sleek. It falls straight to a fault, although stray strands have been known to slip over her face. If worn up, she prefers to roll from the bottom up, tucking and pinning into the top section for a simple look that belies her upbringing save for the precision of the style. An avid reader, Cordelia is rarely encountered without a book at her side.

Cordelia normally wears her Grey Warden uniform, with the addition of a small off-white cowl that she tends to keep up. When not in her Grey Warden attire, Cordelia still often wears robes, largely purple tones while also wearing dresses of the most modest styles. Cordelia has a lighter blue colored robe that she wears for Chantry services. She is never seen without her silver chain necklace, a gift from her mother.

Proper. Cordelia conducts all of her affairs with a rigid concern for her appearance. She puts forth a calm and educated aura at all times. She listens intently and replies with enthusiasm to all. Trained in etiquette, Cordelia smiles often, nods her head, and defers to authority figures as needed.

As a result of this, she is easy to order around. She says what people want to hear instead of what they need. Her education occasionally manifests in unsolicited corrections or grammar or facts. Cordelia believes in a certain standard of basic conduct and etiquette in conversation. She will speak up if she feels that standard is not being met. She is never intentionally rude but can give the impression that she sees herself as better than others. Truthfully, she is wracked with self doubts and often fishes for compliments.

Family means a great deal to Cordelia. The attention lavished upon her as a child was kindling on an affectionate heart. She particularly loved her mother, whose clear and direct teachings were incredibly formative. Cordelia maintains a close relationship with her sister, in spite of the barriers between them. She write often, eager to tell her big sister of her various successes. Though many often looked on Cordelia's relationship with her bastard sister as improper, Cordelia values Finley's honesty. Each exchange letter is a rejuvenating and welcome experience.

Cordelia is a devout Andrastian. She does not doubt the words of the Chantry and will not broach the suggestions of dissenters who would criticize the church. She often struggles with the idea that her magic is a mark of sin and attempts to wash away that stain through good behavior and deeds. In the best of times, this manifests as genuine charity. At worst, Cordelia may seem overly eager to interject into other people's affairs, seeking to aid them if they like it or not.

Born in Edgehall to Fergus and Penelope Lendon, Cordelia’s birth was met with much celebration. Following a coup attempt against her father by his brother Gell, the future of the Arling was uncertain until he and his wife had a child. Cordelia was showered with love as she grew up. She was hugged affectionally by her father, given everything she’d ever asked of her mother, and treated warmly by her half sister Finley.

Penelope Lendon took great lengths to educate her daughter and rear her for her future as Arlessa. She was taught lessons by some of the best tutors in Fereldan Her mother often impressed upon her the many duties she would have as both noblewoman and wife. From a young age, Cordelia was taught the value of duty. She was a model of behavior and as good a daughter as her mother could ever ask. She would occasionally indulge her playful side with Finley as they played long games of hide and seek or enacted make believe tales. Yet, her focus turned to her studies as she grew older.

At the age of ten, while studying alone, her magic first manifested. A small, tingling heat in her fingertips grew until a burst of flame consumed the book she was holding. She cried for her mother, woefully fearful that she was no longer loved by the Maker. They both knew what needed to happen. Even Cordelia’s father agreed: she would be sent to the Circle. The Templars were gathered and although Finley tried to fight them off, Cordelia left her home behind for a new life.

She took to it well. Under her many teachers, Cordelia learned that she possessed a particular talent for controlling the elements. Cordelia never stopped seeing her magic as a curse but she did start to understand that it could still be made to help others. While other mages got lost in surreptitious trysts or bristled at the Templar’s yoke, Cordelia simply focused on her developing her craft.

When the Circle erupted into chaos during the Blight, Cordelia hid for a time. Locked away in a closet, she heard whispers in her mind and peered out to find a demon awaiting. A creature of desire weaved images in her mind of a life without her magic, where she ruled Edgehall as Arlessa. Where she became Queen of Fereldan.

These images faded as a Templar named Aaron saved her from the demon. He would have been within his rights to cut Cordelia down right then and there but he did not. He sequestered her away in the closet once more. She could only listen as he fought off all who would harm her. When the danger finally passed, Aaron was dead. She told no one about the Desire demon. However, she sometimes hears a distant whisper in her dreams, tempting her with fantastic promises.

The trouble at the Cricle heralded a somber time made all the worse as she learned of her father’s passing from illness and her mother’s death at the hands of her uncle Gell’s forces during an attack on Edgehall. Cordelia threw herself into further studies, seeking to bury her sorrows. Relief finally came when she learned of Finley’s victory over Gell and her ascension to the Arlessa of Edgehall.

She soon faced her Harrowing and, having learned lessons from her temptation at the hands of the desire demon, stood firm against another demon seeking to play at her sense of pride. Cordelia continues her study in the Circle, occasionally dreaming of a different life and letting her mind conjure images of reunion with her beloved sister. That reunion would come as Finley conspired with Warden-Commander Nathaniel Howe to have Cordelia conscripted into the Grey Wardens. Free from the Tower, Cordelia struggles to adjust to her new life, often unsure if she truly belongs away from the Templars, but nevertheless has applied herself to serving the order admirably.
