The letter Nathaniel had to pen was not one he ever hoped would be necessary. He had honestly believed, a foolish belief at that, Velanna would remain this time. Things would be different. He was different. Not Aedan. Someone that mattered now that they had put words in their way to what they were to one another.
Mara had not been wrong to question Nathaniel, to ask why Velanna was different, why she got a pass and others might not. Anders would not have had he not died as he had. But Nathaniel had no intention of chasing after Velanna, of wasting resources trying to rid the ground of a weed with such deep roots as to resist any pull. This was a decision he had no idea if Cauthrien would agree with.
If she did not, he was sure she would tell him.
Cauthrien,
Velanna has decided she no longer wishes to be a Grey Warden. I presume she has returned to her forests and anonymity. I do not expect we will hear from or about her again. She will not be found if she does not wish to be and I do not wish to find her.
If she should appear again or you hear of her, tell me and I will see to what needs to be done. Until then, consider her as dead as Anders.
