Quinton’s green eyes can feign kindness and sincerity with ease, but they can also narrow in the most predatory, intense stare imaginable. Bright red hair is swept back in an elegant style, with long sideburns marking the strong, sharp lines of his face.

Tall and lean, Quinton’s athleticism is not immediately apparent. Most of his defining features, in fact, are hidden beneath a veneer of unassuming guilelessness aided by his youthful appearance and the smattering of freckles on his pale face. They--along with his striking resemblance to half-brother Roderick Yorath--have served him well.

First impressions are of the utmost important to him, as is displaying his wealth and status at a glance. Because of this, his clothing is always in the latest fashion and impeccably tailored and usually accompanied by some kind of fur trim or accessory.

Were Quinton to describe himself, he would simply say that he is a man with the keen ability to recognize and deliver upon the wants and needs of those around him. Outwardly he is charismatic and soft-spoken, coming across as a harmless and affable man who is eager to please.

That is the side most see: A quiet but generally pleasant man who seems as if he wishes to achieve his goals by being well-liked. But that is a persona Quinton has honed and perfected over the years. That is all most will ever see.

In truth, Quinton is a calculating man, and rarely acts without weighing the potential benefit. His only true allegiance is to himself, and on rare occasion he struggles even with that. He assumes everyone else thinks in precisely the same manner, and does not extend trust easily. Above all else, he is ambitious and feels he has long since outgrown his humble bannorn. Yorath blood runs through his veins, and as such, Quinton believes he is fully capable of securing everything his half-brother squandered.

Quinton was never meant to exist. Born to a mother who was supposedly barren and a father who had no business caring for a son, it was clear from the beginning that something was amiss.

It took the suspicious death of Quinton’s father for his mother to reveal the truth of his parentage to her childhood friend and sometimes lover, the Bann of Misthaven’s younger brother, Braden. To him alone, she revealed that Quinton was a Yorath by blood. The man saw in the child a tool that he could use to further his own ambitions, and agreed to bring him into the inner political circle and away from the daily rabble of mercenaries, woodsman, and loggers that called Misthaven home.
Though she knew precisely what Braden intended, Quinton's mother never once tried to shield her son from his manipulations.

Growing up in Misthaven, Quinton quickly learned that threats were constant, whether from the inhabitants of the forest, or the inner-squabbles of the elite. He was a quiet boy, and understood the value of being out of sight and out of mind. He also learned very early that his “Uncle Braden” had no love for his brother or his blood nephew, the rightful heir to the bannorn.

When Quinton was 13, Braden told him of his true father, Bann Reginald Yorath of Stonewar. Feeling out of place and dreadfully alone, he imagined his father might return to Misthaven to collect him one day. It was a hope Braden exploited to the fullest, training the boy with the promise that he would one day be legitimized, if only he could prove himself worthy of the name.

It was not until he was 22 that Quinton became an instrument in Braden’s plots, however. Braden's nephew and heir to the bannorn was engaged to Shona, a girl with whom Quinton was infatuated. She was well out of his reach, being the third daughter of an Arl, but that did not stop his hopes. One night while enjoying a solstice festival, he drank far too much and proclaimed his affections, only to be met with raucous laughter and the assurance that Shona did not and could never feel the same.

So he did what any broken-hearted boy would do: He took Braden’s lessons and manipulated the Bann’s son into sleeping with a young married woman. Quinton ensured the scandal would be public, and Shona and the Bann’s son were both shamed, leaving the Bann little choice but to name his brother as heir until his son could grow into the role. When the Bann died of illness some months later, Braden was all too happy to assume the title.

When Quinton informed Braden of his part in the scandal, he expected to be afforded the right to court Shona. Not only did Shona want nothing to do with him, but Braden decided she would be an appropriate bride for a Bann after all, and took her as his wife.

Over the next eleven years, Quinton continued doing favors on Braden’s behalf, observing and waiting. Even when the Bann publicly denounced his mother as Yorath’s whore, he kept his mouth shut and gave the Bann precisely what he wanted, making contacts that reached far and wide. Unsatisfied with merely moving pieces around, he became adept with a crossbow for the sole purpose of eliminating targets that posed a direct threat to Braden and his allies.

At the age of 32, Quinton was finally ready to make his move. Going well over Braden’s head, he arranged to have the Bann sent on a diplomatic errand that required him to travel through the Brecilian Forest. Their caravan was found in shambles nearly a month later, with no sign of the Bann or his family. Quinton was soon appointed Bann of Misthaven, and secured proof of his parentage to adopt the Yorath name once Roderick was no longer alive to contest him.

Having such a name has afforded him certain luxuries that were never present before, and he has amassed a great deal of wealth through Misthaven's flourishing economy--enough to secure contacts and resources that have proven valuable over the past year. While there have been setbacks, and at least one mistake he would rather eradicate from memory, Quinton's has found success in his role as a politician. That success, along with his “friendship” with the Queen of Ferelden, has recently put him in the position of being named Teyrn-Regent of Gwaren. To Quinton, it is only a matter of time before Regent is dropped from the title entirely.
